Telehealth visits at
North Country Hospital Clinics
If you need to make an appointment, your doctor’s office may suggest a Telehealth visit using your computer, smartphone or tablet via Microsoft Teams for Healthcare, a secure, HIPAA Compliant tool. You can do these live, two-way audiovisual visits from home without going to the doctor’s office. The visits take place on a smartphone or tablet.
What is a Telehealth VISIT?
A Telehealth visit is not a replacement for traditional medicine; it is an extension of our traditional model of care. The Telehealth visit allows our Doctors, Nurse Practitioners, or Physician Assistants to diagnose and treat patients who are unable to make it to the office. From your computer, smartphone or tablet, you can have a face-to-face conversation with our professionals from the convenience of your home, hotel, or wherever you may be located. Telehealth isn’t right for everyone, but your doctor’s office will work with you to determine the best option for you and your health.
Benefits of telehealth Visits
- Convenience: You can consult the doctor from the comfort of your home or another convenient area. Remote visits are a good way to get treatment for many minor medical conditions, including acne, bites or stings, birth control pill consultations, cough, congestion, runny nose, diarrhea, nausea, vomiting, fever, headaches, hives, pink eye, lice, skin infections, sprains and strains, travel medications, and much more. However, they are not appropriate for emergencies. If you are experiencing a medical emergency, call 911 right away.
- Less waiting: You can get ready in just a few minutes before your appointment.
- Relaxed atmosphere: Without the distractions often present at a clinic, you can focus on getting all your questions answered.
- Insurance Coverage: Most Telehealth visits are covered by Medicare, Medicaid and private pay insurance.
- Simple, reliable and HIPAA-compliant.
How Telehealth Visits Work
Before your appointment, a nurse or your provider will call to determine whether a Telehealth visit is right for you. If it is, they will walk you through the steps you can take to prepare.
Ten minutes before your scheduled appointment, click on the link in your email on your mobile device. You will then be connected to a Microsoft Teams waiting room and your doctor’s office will join you into the visit when they are ready for you.
